“California’s $75 million Disaster Relief Fund will support undocumented Californians impacted by COVID-19 who are ineligible for unemployment insurance benefits and disaster relief, including the CARES Act, due to their immigration status. Approximately 150,000 undocumented adult Californians will receive a one-time cash benefit of $500 per adult with a cap of $1,000 per household to deal with the specific needs arising from the COVID-19 pandemic. Individuals can apply for support beginning next month.”

    • Puente’s Reopening Communication Plan

      • Thank you very much for your support during the past 11 weeks of shelter in place! We remained open although most of our staff worked remotely.
      • As of June 1, many of our programs will still be suspended in order to maintain social distancing. However, more services will be offered over the phone or video calls. The best way to know which services and programs are available is to call us at 650-879-1691 and visit our website www.mypuente.org.
      • If you need in person services, please come alone. Family members or other individuals that are not required to be present should wait in the car. We will only allow one person in the waiting area.
      • Our office in Pescadero is open and partially staffed from 9 am to 5 pm.
      • Our office in La Honda will be open too Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 1:30 to 4:30 pm (no Thursdays).
      • We still have funds for those who did not qualify to receive the federal stimulus support. Call 650-879-1691 to make an intake appointment.
      • Food distribution will run through June from 4 to 6 pm from the Pescadero office and we continue shopping groceries and picking up medication for adults 55+ who don’t have other support system.
      • The partnership of Puente and YMCA Camp Jones Gulch to offer day camp has been affected by social distancing requirements, therefore, this year the day camp has been cancelled.
      • Our Mental Health team has continued providing their specialized services during the pandemic. They will remain available and we have hired a new Social Work Intern to help us with capacity. In order to access those services, individuals need to call 650-879-1691 to request a referral form and an authorization of treatment.
      • To help fill the gap and get more farm-direct produce into the hands of low-income neighbors, Puente will continue to sponsor the Pescadero Grown Farmer’s Market and to fund the Market Match program, a matching program for low-income residents of Pescadero, La Honda, Loma Mar, and San Gregorio. Funds are matched dollar for dollar up to $25 per week.

    • Costanoa’s Restaurant is limited to TO-GO orders only, and they’re exploring co-ordinated deliveries to select locations. Camping is open. 650-879-1100 is the general number.

    • CRITTER FOOD: Half Moon Bay Feed and Fuel is open for drive up orders only! Call before you go to place your order ( 650-726-4814 ) Enter from Johnston street, give your name and they will load you up - but be patient as they’re getting this new service going.

  • Open as much as possible

    • Norm’s hours: 12-5, but closed on Tuesdays. They may periodically close for re-stocking and cleaning. Best to give a call. Arcangeli Grocery 879-0147

    • The Taqueria de Amigos is serving, take out only. They expect to keep running until they can’t.

    • Pie Ranch Farmstand is open MT, TF 12-5, weekends 10-5. Educational programs are closed. The Farmstand ( 650-879-9281 ) takes cash, credit and SNAP. Call the office ( 650-879-0995 ) with any additional questions.

    • The La Honda Market is open, re reporting in the Half Moon Bay Review.

    • R&R Ranch farmstand is operating 10 to 5 every day

  • Public WiFi is available in the region. Ask around; some places are closing but will let you use their parking lots. we’ll update this section as we find out more

  • Census packets are being delivered! Please fill them out so there is an accurate picture of our region. Census data influences almost every government decision.

  • Pescadero branch of Tri-Counties Bank will be open 10-3 -F. Last known - The Half Moon Bay branch drive-through is open: the lobby is closed.

Small Business Help

There is help emerging for small business. Aside from the uncontrollable Federal programs there are some State and County programs you may find useful. Be quick to sign up, as funds are limited.

Independent Contractors, the Self-employed and Sole Proprietors are directed to go to the State’s Pandemic Unemployment Assistance program.

The Pandemic Unemployment Assistance provides up to 39 weeks of benefits, depending on when you became directly impacted. Additionally you may be able to receive as parts of separate CARES Act $600.
